Messi Reported to not Play Against Houston

Well, isn't this just a letdown. Those of us who actually bothered to want and show up, hoping to catch a glimpse of Lionel Messi against the Houston Dynamo, Forget about it. It was reported that Messi didn't make the trip to Houston. Apparently, resting is more important than, you know, fulfilling the expectations of paying fans. The prices that local fans paid for tickets was diabolical. Dynamo fans were expecting to see the team take on Inter-Miami with Messi on the field. Now that is a bust....again!.

So, no injury, just a casual "I'm tired" from the 37-year-old. After playing a few games, he's apparently earned a vacation. Never mind that he played most of those games anyway. Two goals, two assists – good for him, I guess. Meanwhile, we get nothing.

The Shell Energy stadium is expected to be packed, tickets were ridiculously expensive – $223+ for the cheapest ones, and that was before the news broke. Now, those prices are probably as deflated as our enthusiasm.

We all know he's "one of the best," blah blah blah. Joined MLS last year, missed the Open Cup final against Houston. Remember that? Another missed opportunity. And now, this. No rematch this season, no rematch next season. It's like they're deliberately avoiding us. Just another letdown from the soccer gods.
