Dynamo suffer another Loss early in the seaon
HOUSTON (March 2, 2025) – Another evening at Shell Energy Stadium, another disappointing result. Houston Dynamo FC, predictably, succumbed to Inter Miami CF, managing a paltry 4-1 loss.
Yes, Nico Lodeiro scored a goal. A consolation prize, really, in the 85th minute, a fleeting moment of manufactured excitement for a sellout crowd that deserved far better. Erik Dueñas, bless his heart, even managed an assist, and Franco Escobar and Erik Sviatchenko returned to the starting lineup, which apparently did little to stem the tide of mediocrity.
Lodeiro’s goal, a left-footed flick after a pass from Dueñas, did little to erase the preceding 84 minutes of abject frustration.
Inter Miami, predictably, took the lead early. Telasco Segovia, of course, found the bottom right corner in the sixth minute, a mere formality. Luis Suárez, inevitably, provided the assist. Tadeo Allende, unsurprisingly, doubled Miami’s lead in the 37th minute, his shot finding the top left corner. Segovia, naturally, completed his brace in first-half stoppage time, further compounding the misery.
And to add insult to injury, Suárez, naturally, scored in the 79th minute, a left-footed shot that sealed the deal.
Ezequiel Ponce, attempting to inject some semblance of life into the proceedings, had a chance in the 17th minute, but Oscar Ustari, predictably, saved his shot. Andrew Tarbell, predictably, was forced into a save in the 33rd minute. Artur, predictably, fired a shot high in the 35th minute.
The Dynamo thought they had scored in the 61st minute, but Ponce’s header was, predictably, ruled offside. Jack McGlynn’s pass, ultimately, went to waste. Another night, another letdown.
