What it all boils down, the Texans fell short of the goal this season. The ride itself was a rollercoaster, but like the boring rollercoaster. I think there were a lot of bright spots in the final game to build on. As a matter of fact, I think more positive then negative came out of that game. The Texans made it clear swiftly there was no comfort found in the performance, and that was the chefs kiss on a promising season.
The negative was live in 4k. The offensive line failed CJ and really the team. Don't get me wrong the OL had their moments, but when it counted they collapsed. One thing was clear from watching the remaining football, if CJ can get some time he can throw that ball. The OL is the key to taking this franchise to historic levels. It was plain to see in broad daylight. It's unacceptable especially given this franchises history with quarterbacks. It has to be addressed immediately. On that note I have confidence it will be addressed this off- season.
The Texans balled with the Chiefs. The penalties was a thing despite that, when it was winning time we were right there. I think about the plays missed and the players missing. The result would have you feeling a lack of effort was put into the Texans shortcomings this season, but the truth is they invested to make a difference around CJ. The offense just had the most key injury adversity this season. Not the injured players but the timing of the injuries as well. The expectations never changed regardless of the adversity though. That's most important. I think that's why fans feel like the standard was not met.
The Texans doubled down on reaching new heights. They let go of the OC starting the clock on next year's expectations. Instead of going the safe route with a proven NFL vet play caller, they chose the future. Calendar has been the next man up in the NFL coaching circles for a few cycles now and ge chose the Texans as much as they chose him. That's shows a mutual appreciation and also shows they are not sticking to some over used blueprint and putting the offense back in a box. More evidence the Texans are trying to do things their way. They believe in their formula. They're not backtracking to some comfort zone of acceptable. If you like that or not, you have to respect it, and I do. The past two seasons we have came up short and exceeded expectations at the same time. They main line for me is we have the right guy in charge. Cheers to another shot at with Coach Ryans at the helm. With the talent we have it will be one to remember. In the meantime back to this sunshine and blue skies! Go Texans!
