Houston Dynamo FC fell short in their Leagues Cup Group Stage debut, losing 1-0 to Liga MX's Atlas FC at Shell Energy Stadium. The Dynamo welcomed new signing Lawrence Ennali into the fold, making his debut in the 65th minute after joining the club earlier this month from Górnik Zabrze. Forward Ezequiel Ponce also made his home appearance after featuring in last week's match in Vancouver.

A solitary goal proved to be the difference, as Jose Lozano's curling effort in the 83rd minute found the top corner, leaving goalkeeper Steve Clark with no chance. Clark was a standout performer for the Dynamo, making several crucial saves throughout the match to keep his side in contention.

Despite creating opportunities, including a dangerous early chance for Coco Carrasquilla, the Dynamo were unable to find the back of the net. Micael came close to equalizing late in the game, but Atlas goalkeeper Camilo Vargas made a vital save to preserve the victory for his side.
