Texans on Fire: Ryans Nearly Leads First-Year Sweep
The Houston Texans came close to a remarkable first-year achievement under DeMeco Ryans. Here's how they almost pulled it off:
- C.J. Stroud: Rookie quarterback sensation! Threw for over 4,000 yards and led Houston to their first division title in four seasons, earning Offensive Rookie of the Year honors.
- Will Anderson Jr.: Defensive beast! Broke J.J. Watt's rookie sack record, justifying the trade-up to grab him at #3 overall. Deservedly named Defensive Rookie of the Year.
- DeMeco Ryans: Coach of the Year... almost! Ryans fell just one vote short of the award, despite leading the Texans to a 10-7 record and a playoff win over the Browns (coached by Kevin Stefanski, who actually won Coach of the Year).
Ryans, a former standout linebacker himself (including Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2006 with Houston!), is focused on the future. With Stroud healthy, the Texans have a bright outlook in a tough AFC South.
Can Ryans repeat his success this year? We'll see how his odds stack up against other coaches vying for the Coach of the Year title.
