UH Cougar Guard, Jamal Shead Sets his View for the NBA
Houston Cougars' defensive star, Jamal Shead, has set his sights on the NBA. Shead made the announcement on Thursday morning via his Instagram page.
The consensus All-American guard wrapped up a stellar college career in 2024. During his four years with the Cougars, they reached the Sweet Sixteen every time they made the NCAA Tournament, boasting a perfect record until their final game this season. An ankle sprain forced Shead to leave the court early in that game, which Houston unfortunately lost to Duke by a score of 54-51.
"I feel like it's my time to move on," Shead said. "These have been four of the best years of my life with some of the best people I've met in my life... I feel like right now it's just that time."
Shead's defensive prowess is undeniable. He secured the AAC Defensive Player of the Year title in 2023 and repeated the feat in the Big 12 this year. Despite having 1 year left of eligibility, Shead will enter the NBA draft next season.
