Altuve signs extension
The Houston Astros announced that they have agreed to a five-year contract extension with second baseman Jose Altuve, which will make him a member of the organization through the end of the 2029 season. Altuve has become one of the most impactful Astros players in franchise history, winning two World Series, an MVP award in 2017, eight All-Star selections, three AL batting titles, six Silver Slugger Awards, a Gold Glove Award, and was the 2019 ALCS MVP with his heroic home run to send the Astros to the World Series.
On the Astros all-time lists, Altuve ranks first in career batting average (.307), third in hits (2,047), doubles (400), runs (1,062) and stolen bases (293), fourth in OPS (.834) and fifth in home runs (209).
