University of Houston Volleyball Stays Unbeaten with Win over Southern Miss
The No. 19 University of Houston Volleyball team remained unbeaten on the year with a 3-1 win over Southern Miss on Saturday evening at the Fertitta Center.
The Cougars won their 16th consecutive home match, holding Southern Miss to a sub-.200 hitting efficiency (.144). Houston also posted 10 blocks, led by junior Kellen Morin with six.
Graduate Abbie Jackson powered Houston's offense, recording 18 kills and a .267 hitting percentage. She also had 14 digs for her first double-double of the season. Graduate Kenna Sauer earned her second consecutive double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs, while senior Kate Georgiades tallied a match-high 23 digs.
The Cougars took the first set 25-21, but Southern Miss responded with a 25-23 win in the second set. Houston won the third set 25-22 and the fourth set 25-20 to secure the victory.
