New Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik is bringing an aggressive and urgent approach to the team's offense.

Slowik, who comes to Houston after spending the past five seasons with the San Francisco 49ers, is known for his aggressive play-calling and his ability to get the most out of his playmakers.

"He wants to get his playmakers the ball," said new Texans receiver Robert Woods. "He's aggressive in his coaching."

Slowik is also holding the players accountable on the field and in the meeting rooms.

"He's getting the guys to be urgent and decisive," Woods said. "You have a job to do, get to it."

The pace at which Slowik conducts his interactions with the players generates an overall sense of urgency that must be met.

"It's a short offseason," Woods said. "I think our first preseason game is in two weeks and I think that kind of shows we have a small window to be great, and we've got to get there as fast as we can."

The Texans are hoping that Slowik's approach will help them turn things around after a disappointing 2022 season. With a talented roster that includes Woods, Brandin Cooks, and David Johnson, the Texans have the potential to be a dangerous team if they can execute Slowik's offense.

Here are some additional details about Slowik's offensive philosophy:

  • He wants to get the ball to his playmakers in space.
  • He wants to create a sense of urgency and decisiveness on offense.
  • He wants to be aggressive in his play-calling.
  • He wants to build an offense that can sustain drives and put points on the board.

It will be interesting to see how Slowik's offense translates to the NFL. The Texans have a lot of potential, but they will need to execute at a high level if they want to be successful.
