Dash vs Kansas City in first ever appearance in club history!
A record crowd is expected to watch the first playoff game in Houston Dash history, the team announced today. As of this afternoon, advance ticket sales surpassed 14,000, exceeding the previous attendance record of 13,025 set on July 12, 2015.
As part of the NWSL Playoffs, the Houston Dash will play the Kansas City Current in their first playoff game, powered by Shell Energy, on Sunday, Oct. 16 at PNC Stadium. Ticket prices for that match start at just $7 and the game kicks off at 4 p.m. Central Daylight Time. Tickets are available at HoustonDash.com for $7.
“We are thrilled with the way that Houston has embraced the opportunity to be a part of history on Sunday. It’s a step in the right direction to surpass the all-time attendance record and a sign of what this club is capable of, but we aren’t done,” said Dash president Jessica O’Neill. “We welcome all Houston sports fans to help us fill up PNC Stadium to support this amazing team in their mission to bring the first NWSL championship to Houston.”
As part of the team's 713 Night promotion, the tickets are $7, hot dogs are $1 and beer is $3. Shell Energy will also give away free Dash Rally Towels to the first 10,000 fans at the playoff opener. HoustonDash.com details match day entertainment and promotions
With a 10-6-6 record, the Dash finished the 2022 regular season fourth in the NWSL table. With one win each, Houston and Kansas City split the regular-season series. In the second week of the season, the Dash beat the Current 2-0 in Kansas City, and KC returned the favor by defeating Houston 2-1.
This year, Houston's attack produced 35 goals, which was third-most in the league, led by England national team star Ebony Salmon. Six clean sheets were recorded by goalkeeper Jane Campbell behind a back four that conceded only 27 goals.
If the Dash win on October 16, they will play the OL Reign in the NWSL semifinal at Lumen Field on October 23. This match will determine who will represent the NWSL at Audi Field in DC on October 29. With their 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup championship, the Dash will aim to bring the first NWSL Championship to Houston.
