The 2022 Houston Sports Awards was an eventful night!

Houston Texas | On Wednesday night, the city was graced with the pleasure of hosting yet another award show. The Harris County Houston Sports Authority put on its' fifth annual Houston Sports Awards show for 2022. As usual the attendance was star studded with some of Houston's elite athletes. This year's event was held at the iconic Wortham Theatre Center in the theatre district. 

In case you didn't know, the Houston Sports Awards celebrate the city's top athletes, past and present, to commemorate, and recognize the year's sports achievements, sports icons, performers and moments. 

Appearances by former Houston Texans players Justin Reid and Whitney Mercilus, along with former head coach of the Houston Rockets, Rudy Tomjanovich were some of the attendees. 

The 2022 Houston Sports Awards categories are as follows: 

• Athlete of the Year
• College Athlete of the Year
• Coach of the Year
• Moment of the Year
• Executive of the Year
• The Insperity Inspiration Award
• Lifetime Achievement Award
• Sportsmanship of the Year Award
