A trade with the Houston Texans enabled the New Orleans Saints to reunite the dynamic running back duo Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, according to ESPN sources.
The deal involves a late-round pick swap, according to a source. First reported by NFL Network, this is the second trade between the Saints and Texans in two months after New Orleans acquired veteran cornerback Bradley Roby in Week 1.
Following the release of Latavius Murray and the injury of Tony Jones Jr., the Saints desperately needed depth at the running back position. In response, they turned to one of the most popular and productive backs in franchise history.
After being drafted in the first round in 2011, Ingram spent eight seasons in New Orleans, racking up 6,007 rushing yards, 1,598 receiving yards, and 55 touchdowns. The Saints let him go as a free agent in 2019.
