HOUSTON (Aug. 5, 2024) – The Houston Dynamo FC dominated Real Salt Lake with a 3-0 victory at Shell Energy Stadium tonight, securing the top spot in their Leagues Cup group and advancing to the Round of 32.

The Dynamo will host Liga MX's Toluca FC on Friday, August 9, at a time to be determined. Tickets are available through SeaGeek HERE.

Houston's three first-half goals marked their most prolific opening period since last October's 4-0 drubbing of the Colorado Rapids.

Captain Héctor Herrera opened the scoring in the seventh minute with a deflected shot from outside the box. Micael doubled the lead in the 25th minute, heading in Herrera's corner kick for his first goal of the season. The Dynamo's third goal was credited as an own goal by Salt Lake's Justen Glad in the 42nd minute, following a cross from Griffin Dorsey.

Goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell made six saves to preserve the clean sheet, including crucial stops in the 17th, 22nd, and 36th minutes.

The Dynamo continued to press in the second half, with Ezequiel Ponce and Lawrence Ennali both going close, but Tarbell's solid performance ensured the shutout.
