Houston forward Mauro Manotas gave the Dynamo the lead in the 37th minute of the game with an assist from DaMarcus Beasley at the near post. Beasley got the cross and drove to the byline to pass it off to Manotas as he dashed toward the post to make the goal. This was Manotas’ 12th goal of the season and his 31st in 50 career starts at BBVA Stadium. (See the highlight below)
Not too soon after Manotas’ electrifying scoring goal, about 6 minutes later, Christian Ramirez doubled the lead just before halftime off a pass from Manotas. Ramirez snuck past the Minnesota backline to go one-on-one with goalkeeper Vito Mannone, to fire off a high arching shot at the far post. Ramirez forced a save in the 21st minute at the top of the box to later open up some space that would get by Mannone like Barry Allen did Reverse Flash, but will recover from the potential score.
Later in the 2nd half, Joe Willis stepped up BIG, with 2 major stops, one around the 54th minute stopping a long range shot from Gregus and in the 58th minute, pumping the brakes on Finlay’s low shot to the left post. Willis should have did the Mutumbo finger wave. LOL
After all said and done, the Dynamo take W, with a spectacular win over Minnesota. 2-0. Houston travels to the Pacific Northwest on Saturday to face the Vancouver Whitecaps FC at BC Place. Make sure you tune in to watch the game.
