The Texans have decided to waive D'Onta Foreman as reported by McClain of the Houston Chronicle. Foreman was a third-round pick in 2017 but suffered an Achilles injury in week 11 which caused him to miss moajority of the2018 season.
He was activated off PUP in early December (2018), but was only able to suit up for Houston's Week 16 loss to Philly and then their embarrassing defeat to the Colts on Wild Card Weekend.
It was said that Bill O'Brien wasn't happy with Foreman's progress. It was cited the waiver was implemented due to "Bad Work Habits". O'Brien also stating the backup position behind starter Lamar Miller was wide open, dismissing that Foreman was even in the run for the spot.
By waiving him, the Texans clear around $500,000 of cap space and could be making a play for Gordon.
I will say that this could potentially come back and bite the Texans in the ass. With these type of decisions, you often wonder and start to question the actions of the organization. With Clowney still a no-show for training camp due to the Texans not restructuring his contract, its becoming evident that another non-productive season that will result in not getting past the first round is on the horizon.
We will see as the story unfolds as to the reasoning of Foreman's waiver from the team.
